My Very First Post

Welcome to my Blog. I hope to use this space to share with you my passion as a photographer and as a mother.
I was introduced to photography at the very tender age of 10 years old, when I received my first camera, an old Kodak point and shoot. Even at a young age I quickly became frustrated by the limitations of a point and shoot camera. When I was in the sixth grade, a family friend loaned me her fully manual SLR with a zoom lens....I was hooked instantly!
It wasn't until 12 years later that I got my very own SLR (thanks to my husband). From that point on I looked at the world in a completely different way. When I look at the world around me I am seeing it through the eye of a viewfinder (with or without my camera)...it's like I have a camera permanently attached to my face!
I like to photograph just about anything, but my favorite subjects are nature (flowers, wildlife) and children. I have been taking pictures for so long, but it has only been recently (since the birth of my son) that I have been able to really focus on my photography and turn it from a hobby into a business.
Before my son was born, I worked full time as a teacher for children with autism. This left very little time for photography. When my son was born, I decided to stay home full time to experience all the ups and downs of motherhood. This has been such a blessing for me, not only because it allows me the opportunity to work on my photography skills, but also because I get to spend every single day with my sweet, delightful, crazy little man. I consider myself very lucky to be able to experience all the wonders of my son and to not miss out on a single moment. I realize what a fleeting moment childhood is, and I want to be there to suck up every single second of it.
Well, I hope you enjoy my Blog as well as my photography. Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day.
